I am looking for a truck bed bike rack. My main choices are either the kind that spread apart between the sides of the bed that the front forks connect to that hold a couple of bikes. The one made by Thule is what I had long ago I'm sure they have gotten better. The other choice is the Dakine over the tailgate model however i am wondering if your tailgate gets scratched up and also it just seems less secure. I know everytime you take your bike out of the house it's not secure but it still seems like a big target just hanging off my truck like that. So any opinions..

I love my Dakine over the tailgate bike rack. I carry four bikes on there just about every weekend. I don't really worry about it messing up my tailgate as I just leave it on and I don't really worry about my tailgate as it's pretty much a truck for hauling around tools and stuff like that so it's not pretty anyway. As far as security I was kind of worried about that as well. I bought one of these Kryptonite Kryptoflex 1230 Key Cable Bicycle Lock, 1/2 x 10-Feet on Amazon.com they are about 30 bucks or so. I just put it through all the bike frames and the cargo hooks and lock it up. Works Great I love all the Kryponite products.
